About Chris Rosser
In which the author introduces himself in the third-person
Chris Rosser is a writer of speculative fiction stories, including fantasy, sci-fi and historical fiction. Originally from Wales, he migrated as a child to Australia in the mid-1980s. Today, he lives in the leafy eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia with his wife, their three kids and two cats.
A life-long lover of fantasy and historical fiction, Chris has written stories and constructed worlds since early childhood. He earned his bachelor's degree with honours in history and archaeology, then a masters degree in editing and communication. For more than twenty years, he's worked as a technical writer and unofficial software engineer for companies including Canva, Sportsbet, Specialized and Equifax.
In 2007 Chris started this blog, became serious about it in 2014, then published his first two dark fantasy novellas in 2018 and 2019. Then, his writing career imploded spectacularly following prolonged COVID lockdowns, and the growing burden of parental and professional committments. In 2021, he returned to long-form fiction by serialising a novel titled The Codex of Destiny.
In 2026, following a miserable two years that included two family deaths, two redundancies and career collapse thanks to AI, Chris rebuilt this site as a symbolic restart to his writing career.
Outside writing, Chris practices and teaches Taekwondo, writes software, and enjoys playing boardgames and TTRPGs.
